1,000 Test Sleeps: What We Learned About Perfect Neck Support
The Research Lab

We spent over a year testing neck pillows.

Not in a lab — on red-eye flights, in cramped car seats, during office naps, and on couches at 2 a.m. By the time we stopped counting, we had logged more than 1,000 test sleeps.

Here’s what we learned.

Support isn’t softness.

At first, we made the same mistake most brands make: we aimed for plush. But soft pillows go flat in 30 minutes. By hour three of a long flight, you’re back to waking up with a stiff neck.

What actually works is high-density memory foam. It doesn’t sink. It holds its shape. And after a few nights, it slowly adapts to your neck — not the other way around.

Your chin changes everything.

Most neck pillows only support the back of your neck. So when you fall asleep, your head drops forward. That’s not just uncomfortable — it’s bad for your cervical spine.

We learned that raising the side wings — just enough to cradle your jaw — makes the difference between nodding off and actually resting.

Cooling isn’t a gimmick.

We tested fabrics the way you’d test a pillow: by sleeping on them. The ones that felt cool in the store often turned warm and sweaty after an hour.

The fabric we landed on is Grade A cooling material, tested to feel 70% cooler on contact. And the cooling doesn’t wash out — it’s built into the fibers.

One size doesn’t fit all.

We tested pillows on people with smaller frames, broader shoulders, taller necks, and everything in between. That’s why we designed a full-circle velcro strap — not just a tiny patch. It adjusts to fit XXS to XXL, and stays put once you find your setting.

A pillow should travel with you.

We tested how pillows pack. Some rolled up but never bounced back. Some refused to compress at all. The Glacier Pillow rolls down to the size of a fist. It clips onto a bag, slips into a carry-on, and springs back to shape when you need it.

We didn’t set out to make the softest pillow. We set out to make one that actually works — for side sleepers, for tall frames, and for anyone who’s ever woken up on a plane with a neck that won’t turn.
